FLORENCE, S.C. – Along with their weekend at the CofC Invitational, Charleston Southern tennis had four athletes compete in the Florence Wild Card Tournament – Zoe Cauthen, Madalina Man, Luiza Fullana and Tiffany Pyritz – with Cauthen taking home a singles title and Cauthen/Man collecting a doubles championship.

Cauthen, a freshman making her CSU debut, won the singles tournament to earn a wild card spot into the 25K pro event in Florence Oct. 13-20 while sophomore Tiffany Pyritz finished second and earned a wild card into the qualifying draw of the same tournament.

The four Buccaneers participating in the draw combined for nine singles wins as all four made the semifinals round claiming each of the top four spots in the standings. Cauthen would take down teammates Madalina Man and Tiffany Pyritz for the singles title then team up with Man to take home the doubles championship over teammates Fullana and Pyritz.

Cauthen's doubles win earned a wild card into the main draw of the same pro event in October.

"Overall I think it was a good first match experience for our girls this fall," said Charleston Southern head coach Anca Dumitrescu. "I was happy to be able to see our freshmen compete and overall be able to identify areas each one our players can improve. It's a process and each match and each tournament gives us a chance to improve how we adjust tactically, how we compete and how we problem solve out on the court."

The Bucs are back in action in October at the Hilton Head 25K tournament running Oct. 6-9, followed by the Charlotte Invitational running Oct. 10-13.
