CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern softball will play host to 19 games at CSU Softball Field as head coach Venus Taylor announced the 2020 schedule Thursday morning. The season will open with five games in the first weekend, as the team will travel to Orlando, Florida to play in the D9 Citrus Blossom tournament.
The Bucs will face off against Bethune-Cookman, Lehigh, Georgia Southern and Saint Joseph's in the tournament. CSU then returns home to host the Charleston Invitational where they will welcome Army, Ohio, North Carolina Central, North Carolina A&T and Appalachian State. The team will then travel across the Ravenel Bridge to compete in the Holy City Showdown, hosted by the College of Charleston Feb. 28- Mar.1. The final tournament of the season will be in Longwood, Florida where the Bucs will particpate in The Spring Games, who will welcome over 450 teams from around the country.
The most notable game on the Bucs schedule will be against 2018 National Champion and ACC Regular Season Champion, Florida State Seminoles on Mar. 7 at 1:30 p.m. in Longwood, Fl.
Other non-conference midweek road trips include Fordham, College of Charleston, Coastal Carolina and local power five team South Carolina.
Home series inside Big South play include recent champion Longwood, Presbyterian, Hampton, and Campbell. Road series include Gardner-Webb,, USC Upstate, Winthrop, and Radford.
The 2020 Big South Conference Championship is set for May 6-9 at Brinkley Softball Stadium Stadium in Boiling Springs, N.C.
