LYNCHBURG, Va. - Charleston Southern senior Braxton Drummond turned in a personal best time in the 100-meter dash to qualify for Thursday's finals, highlighting day two of the 2016 Big South Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Drummond built on his record-breaking performance in claiming a fourth league long jump title late Tuesday night. He placed fourth in the 100-meter prelims by running in 10.54 seconds, beating his previous best by .03 seconds. Freshman Josh Paramore performed well with a of t e of 10.78 seconds and placed just .01 seconds out of the finals field. Kaishon Murray ran a flat 11 seconds for a 13th place showing.
Thrower Jacob Moore's best standing was a ninth-place finish in the hammer throw, where he tossed 49.79 meters. Freshman sprinter Josiah Scarlett was the other top athlete for coach Roosevelt Lofton's squad, finishing 17th in the 400-meter with a time of 50.94 seconds.
The final day of competition begins Thursday morning, with all events streamed on the Big South Network.
