Box Score CHARLESTON, S.C. –Brandon Burris' walk-off single in the 13th scored Cole Murphy to lift Charleston Southern to a 5-4 win over North Florida on Saturday night at CSU Ballpark.
The Buccaneers improved to 5-3 with the win, while UNF falls to 6-6 on the year.
Burris' line-drive single to centerfield was the game's first run since the sixth inning and snapped a three-game losing streak for CSU. Murphy drew a two-out walk and took third on a two-out single by Jack Crittenberger to set up Burris' game-winner.
CSU relievers Jon Piriz, Joe Pistacchio, and Austin Weekley (WP, 1-0) combined to hold the Ospreys scoreless over the final seven innings. Alex Ministeri pitched out of jam in the sixth following starter Evan Raynor.
CSU took a 3-1 lead in the second, taking advantage of a UNF error. Chase Shelton and Sam Remick singled to get the inning going. Cole Murphy reached on an error and plated Shelton with the Bucs' first run of the game. Brandon Burris followed with an RBI groundout and Jack Crittenberger, who drew a two-out walk, held out long enough in a rundown to push CSU's final run of the inning across.
UNF's Corbin Olmstead helped the Ospreys chip away at the CSU lead. His RBI double sparked a two-run sixth as UNF took its first lead.
After falling behind 4-3 in the top half of the sixth, CSU tied the game at 4-4 as Murphy raced home on a single from Crittenberger.
UNF's Donnie Dewees was 3-for-6 with an RBI to lead UNF. Evan Incinelli (LP, 0-1) took the loss, giving up an unearned run in the 13th.
