FARMVILLE, Va. - Charleston Southern swept all three doubles matches and all six singles matches against host Longwood on Sunday afternoon at the Lancer Courts as the Buccaneers picked up their 12th consecutive win of the season and seventh victory in Big South Conference play with the 7-0 victory over the Lancers.
The Buccaneers improved their overall record to 13-3 on the season and 7-0 in Big South Conference play with the sweep over Longwood. The Lancers falls to 3-9, 1-7 in conference action with the loss.
The sweep was the Buccaneers eighth shutout in their past 11 matches as CSU's winning streak dates back to February 15th against South Carolina State.
CSU swept all three doubles matches to open conference action as Yvonne Hubler and Alexandra Walters topped Malin Allgurin and Sarah Moomau, 8-0, on court no. 1. Mi'Kola Cooper and Alia Nour defeated Paloma Alatoree and Anna Pelak 8-2 on court no. 2, and Marketa Placha and Nicolin Luecke downed Mason Thomas and Bethany Law on court no. 3, 8-2.
In singles action, the Buccaneers took all six singles matches with Hubler topped Allgurin on court no. 1, 6-1, 6-0. Placha added a 6-1, 6-2 win over Alatorre on court no. 2, while Walters defeated Moomau 6-1, 6-2 on court no. 3.
Luecke added a 6-0, 6-1 win over Pelak on court no. 4, while Nour defeated Thomas on court no. 5, 6-1, 6-3. Gabriela Srodowski closed out the Buccaneers victory on the afternoon with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Law on court no. 6.
Charleston Southern remains on the road tomorrow as the Buccaneer close out the road portion of their 2014 schedule in Buies Creek, N.C., as CSU takes on Campbell University. First serve between the Bucs and the Camels is set for 2 p.m.
