The Gamecocks jumped ahead in the top of the first inning as Kalee Tabor connected on a two-run home run down the left field line. Her blast on the two-out, 2-1 offering from Gandara brought in Taylor Sloan from first base to put Jacksonville State ahead 2-0 in the top of the first inning.
Charleston Southern threatened in the bottom of the second inning as Stephanie Bergmann and Hannah Wagner reached on back-to-back singles with one out in the inning. However, Akenberger left them stranded in taking out the final two batters of the inning to keep the JSU lead intact.

The Buccaneers bats came to life in the bottom half of the inning as Christian took the first pitch for a ball, before uncorking a solo home run over the centerfield fence to put Charleston Southern on the scoreboard to lead off the inning. On the very next pitch, Brock deposited a matching blast in the same spot with her second home run of the season to narrow the CSU margin down to 3-2 with none out in the third, chasing Akenberger from the game. Carvey entered and quelled the Buccaneers threat to retire the side and hold the Bucs bats at bay.

Carvey shut down the CSU offense the rest of the way, allowing three base runners over the final four innings to end the contest and the weekend in picking up the win.
