Bucs run their streak to eight in a row; 5-0 in Big South after win over Asheville

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Charleston Southern improved to 5-0 in Big South Conference play on Sunday afternoon, defeating the host UNC Asheville Bulldogs at the Asheville Racquet Club, 5-2.

The Buccaneers took two of the three doubles matches and four of the six singles matches in picking up their eighth consecutive win on the season.

The Buccaneers fell on court no. 1 in doubles play as Asheville's Zoe Hamel and Ericka Rivero topped Angelica Sidorenko and Alia Nour 8-7 (8-6).

CSU bounced back to take the other two doubles matches, rallying to take the first point in the match heading into singles play.

Alexandra Walters and Yvonne Hubler defeated Emily McNall and Christine Boissevain on court no. 2, 8-6, while Marketa Placha and Susita Das topped Amryn Solider and Gillian Lewis, 8-5.

In singles play, Walters and Nour both improved to 5-0 in Big South action, while Hubler won her seventh consecutive match, improving to 7-1 overall on the year. Das rounded out the CSU points with her second win of the season on court no. 6.

Hubler topped McNall on court no. 2, 6-0, 6-2, while Walters defeated Solider, 6-0, 6-1 on court no. 4. Nour defeated Boissevain on court no. 5, 6-4, 6-2, while Das topped Lewis for the final point with a 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (8-6) victory in the tiebreaker.

Hamel and Rivero provided the two points for the Bulldogs on the afternoon.

Hamel defeated Placha on court no. 1, 2-6, 6-2, 7-6, while Rivero defeated Sidorenko on court no. 3, 6-3, 6-4.

Charleston Southern returns home next weekend for their final home match of the 2013 season, hosting preseason Big South favorite Winthrop on Saturday afternoon. First serve between the Bucs and the Eagles is set for 1 p.m.
