Bucs Breeze by Blue Hose, 6-1

Box score

CLINTON, S.C. - The Charleston Southern tennis team cruised to a third consecutive victory with a 6-1 triumph over Presbyterian College on Saturday afternoon. CSU (12-3, 5-1) swept the doubles portion of play, and earned wins at each of the first five singles positions.

Olga Makhova dominated after not competing in singles play in CSU's Friday win over UNC Asheville, as the two-time Big South Player of the Year blanked PC's Paige Oelke in straight sets. Alexandra Walters enjoyed a straight sets victory out of the number three spot, but the Bucs proved their mettle to come out on top in three-set battles in three other matchups.

Yvonne Hubler dropped her first set, 6-2, before bouncing back for a pair of 6-1 wins, while Angelica Sidorenko sandwiched a pair of 6-1 decisions around a 1-6 second-set setback.

Susita Das won a nip and tuck battle with the Blue Hose Caroline de Loach at number five singles, claiming a pair of tiebreakers including an 11-9 affair to clinch the match.

CSU had their way in doubles for a second consecutive day, with Hubler and Walters improving their team-best mark in 8-4 fashion.

Next up for the Bucs is a trip to Buies Creek, N.C. for a matchup with Campbell Friday at 2 p.m. The Fighting Camels currently stand at 9-4 and 1-3 in league action.
