CONWAY, S.C. - Charleston Southern dropped a 5-2 women's tennis decision at Coastal Carolina in the regular season finale Friday, April 15 in Conway, S.C. With the win, Coastal Carolina sealed a share of the Big South Regular Season Championship.

The Buccaneers finish the season at 8-10, including a 4-3 record in conference play. CSU will serve as the No. 4 seed in next week's Big South Tournament, and will face Gardner-Webb in the first round on Thursday, April 21 at 9 a.m. Coastal Carolina (19-5, 6-1 BSC) ends the campaign in a three-way tie for first place with Winthrop and Liberty.

Winthrop will be the first seed, followed by Coastal in second, Liberty in third and CSU in fourth. Gardner-Webb, Radford and UNC Asheville are fifth through seventh in that order.

The Chanticleers earned the match victory by claiming the doubles point and winning the first three completed singles matches. CSU won two out of the final three singles contests.

CSU's Marija Dzakovic won her match at both singles and doubles.

Coastal Carolina's No. 1 pair of Lexi Bolesky and Mikaela Kristofersson defeated Angie Torres and Brooke Pletcher, 8-2. In the No. 3 match, Dzakovic and Alexandra Walters beat Caitlyn Brooksbank and Kourtney Kowal by an 8-3 margin. Miki Bunea and Diana Mortlock bested the team of Heather Isbell and Alia Nour, 8-2, to clinch the match's first point.

Bunea earned a 6-3, 6-0 second-flight victory over Pletcher to begin singles play. Maria Hesketh downed Susita Das in straight sets in the No. 6 singles match. Kristofersson defeated Walters, 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 4 position to earn the team victory at 4-0.

Torres gave CSU its first singles victory of the day, at No. 5, beating Mortlock 10-8 in the tiebreaker. Dzakovic downed Bolesky, 6-7, 6-4, 10-8, in the junior's first No. 1 flight match this season.

Kowal ended the contest with a three-set win over Alia Nour at No. 4 singles.

CSU will next compete Thursday, April 15 vs. Gardner-Webb in the Big South Tournament, hosted by Winthrop University. The Bucs' match against Gardner-Webb is set to begin at 9 a.m.
