Bucs Head to Furman on Wednesday

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The CSU baseball team will hit the road for the second day in row, this time heading to Greenville, S.C., to wrap up a two-game series with the Paladins of Furman University on Tuesday evening at Latham Stadium. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m.

Bucs & Paladins
The Bucs and the Paladins will meet for the second time this season on Wednesday. CSU trails Furman 17-28 in the series, but took the first meeting between the two teams this season by downing the Paladins 5-3 at CSU Ballpark back in February.

Bucs at the Top
Sacrifice bunts is not the only statistical category the Bucs are doing well in this season, as they are fourth or better in the Big South in seven different categories. The currently rank third in batting average (.299) and total plate appearances (1,012). They are also fourth in hits (250), triples (4) and at bats (836).

The Bucs are also showing up the the national statistics, ranking in the top 100 of NCAA Division I in 10 categories as a team and in 18 categories as individuals. Among the other highlights: Jaren Sustar ranks second in sac bunts (11.0) and sac bunts per game (.46); Nick Chinners is 12th in base on balls (23.0); Brantley Meier is 18th in toughest to strike out (23.5); while Derek Smith is ranked 20th in home runs (6.0).

Buccaneer Blast
-Senior Tom Burkett saw plenty of action in right field this weekend. Burkett recorded a career high three putouts in the first contest against Radford, then repeated his feat twice more.
- Blake Hunt tied his career high on Saturday with eight putouts against Radford.
- Brantley Meier also tied his career high, scoring three runs in Friday's contest vs. the Highlanders.
- Pitcher Charlie McCready set a new career high on Friday with 4.0 ip.
