RADFORD, Va. - The Charleston Southern women's tennis team evened its season record with a 4-3 Big South victory at Radford Sunday, March 20. The Buccaneers have played three conference matches this season, and all three have resulted in 4-3 finals.

CSU advances to 5-5 on the season, including a 2-1 mark in the Big South. Radford falls to 3-9, 1-2 in Big South play with the loss to CSU.

The Buccaneers claimed all three doubles matches, and then won the first three singles matches to be completed, clinching victory on a straight-sets win by Alexandra Walters at No. 6. Radford won the final three matches to make the score 4-3.

The Bucs made quick work of the Highlanders in doubles play, as the No. 3 pair of Brooke Pletcher and Alia Nour defeated Sara Tegner and Emerald Lauzon, 8-1. Olga Makhova and Marija Dzakovic downed Petra Dajevic and Mia Drobnjak, 8-2, at No. 1. CSU's No. 2 team, consisting of Angie Torres and Heather Isbell, won for the second day in a row, this time by an 8-5 score.

Freshman Alia Nour gave CSU its first singles victory, beating Mirna Matic 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 for Nour's sixth singles win of the season. The Bucs' No. 1, Olga Makhova, followed with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Dajevic, good for Makhova's sixth singles victory in a row.

Walters clinched the team victory for CSU. She bested Lauzon, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 6 singles for CSU's decisive fourth point of the day.

With the match decided, Radford Tegner earned a straight-sets victory over Angie Torres in the No. 5 match. Drobnjak beat Dzakovic in three sets at No. 2 singles, and Ivana Tomaic won a three-set match over Pletcher for RU's third and final singles win of the day.

The Bucs return home for their next two matches, facing Big South-leading Winthrop Friday, March 25 at 2 p.m. before taking on Presbyterian Saturday, March 26.
