CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Bucs took the lead for the first time with seven seconds on the clock as they took down Presbyterian 28-24, Saturday at CSU stadium.

It was an 18-yard pass from Sidney Bryant to Dee Brown that put CSU ahead, evening their record at 5-5 with the victory over future Big South member Presbyterian (6-5). Charleston Southern will go for their third-straight winning season as they face Coastal Carolina on a game that will be televised on SportSouth. Kickoff will be at noon.

The Bucs, led by Bryant, amassed almost 450 total yards of offense (449) as they took down the Blue Hose for the second-straight year. Bryant finished the game one completion short of the single-game record, passing the ball 48 times, completing 30 of them for 382 yards, and did not throw an interception. Of the 30 completions, Vernon Huger (86 yards), Markus Murry (80 yards) and Tim Jones (53 yards) each caught six. Brown had 5 receptions for a game-high 125 yards, including what proved to be the game-winner with 7.3 seconds on the clock.

Josh Warrior (12 tackles) and Jada Ross (11 tackles) paced a CSU defense that held a potent PC offense to just three second-half points. The defense also picked of PC quarterback Greyson Mullins twice with Philip Ashley grabbing one, and deflecting the other into the chest of C.J. Hirschman, who held on in the endzone.

After winning the coin flip, Presbyterian chose to take the ball and put their highly rated offense (second in the Nation) on display early on. The move paid off as it took just 3:19 for them to put the ball in the endzone to take a 7-0 lead.

Charleston Southern tried to answer late in the first quarter, but fumbled the ball on the 22-yardline, and it was returned 78-yards by Chetyuane Reeder to make it 14-0 in favor of the visiting team.

The two teams traded touchdowns and it looked like the shootout that was expected was coming to fruition. The Bucs struck on a five-yard pass to Murry after a seven-play, 32-yard drive after Gerald Stevenson set them up nicely on the PC 32 yardline with a 48-yard kickoff return.

CSU would add another touchdown with :28 on the clock in the first half as Bryant found Huger in the endzone to cut the PC lead to seven, knowing CSU would get the ball back to start the second half.

Bryant and Brown hooked up again, this time going 53 yards for the touchdown tying the game 21-21 at the beginning of the fourth quarter. The two teams had opportunities to take the lead with neither team able to until a career-long 40 yard field goal by Cam Miller put PC up 24-21 with only 1:20 on the clock.

A short kickoff left CSU in good field position at their 42 yardline as they looked to move the ball down the field to put themselves in position to tie or take the lead late. Bryant found Jones on a pair of passes that set CSU up near field goal range. A holding penalty on the Blue Hose moved the ball to the 18 yardline, and with less than :20 on the clock, Bryant found Brown in the corner of the endzone for the victory.
