Box score

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Charleston Southern (2-2) used a 14-point fourth quarter comeback to beat North Greenville (0-5) 35-28 Saturday afternoon at Yount's Stadium.

The Buccaneers set out to run the ball and did so behind Robert Adams, who carried the ball 22 times for 124 yards with one touchdown. Junior quarterback Collin Drafts started hot, completing 11 of his first 14 passes. Drafts ended up completing 17 of 32 passes for 244 yards and three touchdowns. Big South Freshman of the week, Markus Murry, was Drafts' favorite target of the afternoon catching four passes for 61 yards.

The Crusaders were led by quarterback Eric Moeller who was 16 of 34 for 165 yards. Travis Mosley took the bulk of the carries with 19 carries for 124 yards.

The visiting Buccaneers won the toss and took the ball first trying to strike early and did just that. The Buccaneers drove 80 yards on eight plays and scored on a 22-yard pass to Andre Copeland to take an early 7-0 lead. The Crusaders came right back with a seven play drive of their own to tie the score 7-7 early in the first quarter.

Looking to take a 21-7 lead into halftime, the Buccaneer defense had the Crusaders backed up to fourth down and long. North Greenville head coach, Mike Taylor, took a gamble throwing the ball deep and picking up a pass interference call to keep the drive alive. The Crusaders scored on a three-yard touchdown pass with only nine seconds left in the first half to cut the Buccaneer lead to 21-14 at halftime.

The Crusaders scored on their first drive of the second half to tie the score. On a 10-yard pass to Pittman early in the fourth quarter, North Greenville took its first lead of the game on a fourth and inches play when Moeller went over the top to Garrett for 47 yards giving NGC the lead 28-21.

Midway through the fourth quarter, Drafts found Junior Bryant Burch across the middle and Burch went 53 yards to tie the game at 28. After an interception by David Misher, the Bucs had a short field to work with and scored the go-ahead touchdown. Once again, it was Adams carrying the football, scoring on a two-yard run.

Charleston Southern will be home again next week to take on Howard University for Alumni/Hall of Fame weekend. That game will kick off at 1:30 p.m.
