The CSU Cross Country Course was revamped for the 2018 season and hosted the first cross country meet on CSU's campus in recent history and has hosted their season opening meet annually ever-since. The course begins on the fields behind the Athletic Performance Center and runs into the woods in a loop behind Nielsen Field @ CSU Ballpark. The 5K course runs the loop twice while the 8K course runs the loop twice with two smaller loops at the finish.

In the fall of 2024, the Buccaneers hosted the Big South Championships at the course. The men's team won their fifth consecutive team championship at the meet while the women were the runners-up, tying the best finish in program history.
