CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern and Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Jim Stintzi announced their 2017 schedule on Friday. The Bucs will compete in five events in preparation for the Big South Conference Championships held on Saturday, Oct. 28.
Stintzi is looking forward to helping his teams grow through the challenges of both large and small meet situations.
"Our 2017 schedule features two meets where we will see competition from across the country," Stintzi commented. "The Commodore XC Classic and the Louisville Classic meets are large inter-regional competitions that will really test our young teams."
He continued, "In addition, we will have the opportunity to compete within our state and region at the USC Challenge, the Citadel Classic, and the High Point Vert Invite – so hopefully, we will get a chance to challenge ourselves and get ready for the conference and regional championships."
The Bucs open the season for the second straight year at the Carolina Challenge in Columbia, S.C., on September 2. CSU travels to Nashville, Tenn., two weeks later for the Commodore XC Classic. CSU returns to Charleston for the Will Wilson Citadel Invitational on James Island the following week. The Bucs close out September in Louisville, Ky., for the Louisville Classic on September 30.
CSU closes out the regular season at the HPU Vert XC Invitational on October 14 hosted by High Point.
The Bucs travel to Liberty University and Lynchburg, Va. on October 28 for the 2017 Big South Conference Cross Country Championships.
