CHARLESTON, S.C. - Trips to Western Carolina, College of Charleston, and UNC Wilmington highlight the 2018 Charleston Southern volleyball schedule, head coach Christy Mooberry announced on Friday afternoon.
The Bucs travel to road tournaments hosted by Western Carolina, CofC, and UNC Wilmington to open the 2018 season. CSU will also host a midweek contest to Savannah State, as well as travel to S.C. State prior to the start of the Big South Conference schedule.
"Our preseason schedule has us on the road, very similar distances to many of our conference matches, so that should help prepare us from that aspect as well as seeing good competition," Mooberry said. "We've worked hard this last spring and saw real growth; I'm hopeful that our team will continue to pursue this growth over the summer months."
The Buccaneers return 11 players from last year's squad including rising seniors Madison Martin, Addison Kaderli, and Hannah Western.
Rising juniors Logan Windsor, Naiomi Rivera, Brooke Monssen, Rachel Smith, Macey LaPorte, and Caitlyn Michalski also return to reprise key roles on the court in the upcoming 2018 season. CSU also welcomes back Madison Malloch, as well as three newcomers to the roster in the 2018 season.
"Our largest class moves up to being juniors this year and I'm excited to see how that translates on the court," Mooberry commented. "We'll have our seniors that are regulars on the court and a few new faces with the program as well and I believe they will add to the dynamic and culture we are pursuing both on and off the court."
