PREVIEW
Charleston Southern continues the 2017 season this weekend as the Buccaneers travel to The Citadel for the Bulldog Invitational. The Bucs continue their tournament schedule taking on Alabama A&M, Jacksonville St., and The Citadel on September 15-16. 

CSU (3-8) opens the weekend against Alabama A&M (0-7) on Friday at McAlister Field House. First serve between the Bucs and Bulldogs is set for 4:30 p.m. Charleston Southern continues tournament play with a match against Jacksonville St. on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. Saturday's finale is set for 7:00 p.m. against The Citadel.

CSU is coming off a successful tournament at the Elon Phoenix Classic last weekend where it won two of three matches. The Bucs fell to tournament host Elon 3-0 on Friday before bouncing back on Saturday and defeating Norfolk State 3-1 and N.C. Central 3-1 to close out the weekend. 

Junior libero Madison Martin continues to lead CSU defensively with 4.43 digs per set, while Hannah Western paces the Bucs with 2.55 kills per set. Rachel Smith is second in the Big South Conference in assists per set (8.81) and Addison Kaderli leads Charleston Southern in service aces per set (0.34).

Alabama A&M is still seeking its first win of the season after falling in three matches last weekend at the Eastern Illinois Panther Invite. The Bulldogs fell in straight sets to tournament host Eastern Illinois, Western Illinois and Chicago State. Alabama A&M is led by Mikel Coleman with 2.40 kills per set, while Cierra Davis leads the Bulldogs defensively with 3.09 digs per set.

Jacksonville St. enters this weekend with a 10-3 record following four straight set wins last weekend at its home tournament over North Carolina A&T, Alcorn State, Mississippi Valley State and ULM. Allyson Zuhlke leads the Gamecocks offensively with 3.47 kills per set, while Hannah Kirk continues to lead JSU's defensive efforts with 4.35 digs per set.

The Citadel (2-9) is coming off a 0-4 weekend at the ECU Invitational with a 3-1 loss to Big South opponent Winthrop followed by 3-1 defeat to Big South member Gardner-Webb. The Bulldogs closed the tournament on Saturday with losses to host East Carolina (3-0) and Hampton (3-1). Moriah Smith paces The Citadel with 3.84 kills per set, while Samantha Espy leads the team defensively with 4.21 digs per set.
