Volleyball Preview: Bucs welcome Coastal Carolina for Senior Night

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern volleyball closes out its 2015 home schedule on Friday night as the Buccaneers host Coastal Carolina on Senior Night in the Buc Dome. First serve between the Bucs and the Chants is set for 7 p.m.

The Bucs will recognize 2015 seniors Cassidy Greer, Katrina Houston, Ashley Higginbothem and Meredith Parrott prior to the match.

Scouting Coastal Carolina
Coastal Carolina enters the Friday night match with a 19-4 overall record, 11-0 in Big South Conference play. The Chanticleers are the current Big South leaders and have won 12 consecutive matches dating back to September 19th with wins over South Carolina, Georgia Tech and Drake on the season. The Chants are 6-3 away from The HTC Center on the year.

Five Coastal Carolina players are averaging over two kills per set paced by Leah Hardeman's team-leading 3.74 kills per set on the season. Eszter Nagy is the team's hitting leader at .452 percent, while Annayka Legros (.328) is also among the Big South leaders. Sara Boothe (7.59) and Aleksandra Djuric (5.19) both set up the Coastal offense. Defensively, Carla Cahill is the team leader with 3.90 digs per set, while Nagy is the leader at the net with 0.75 blocks per set.

Last Time Against Coastal Carolina
Charleston Southern fell in Big South Conference play on October 9, dropping a three-set decision to host Coastal Carolina inside The HTC Center, 25-13, 25-22, 25-13.

Ashley Higginbothem became just the third Buccaneer to surpass 1,500 digs in her career at CSU in the first set. The redshirt senior libero joined Amanda Hill (1,535) and Carrie O'Connell (1,833) as the only Buccaneers to achieve the mark after recording two digs in the first set.

Krista Kuglin led the CSU (4-15, 0-3) offense with 13 kills on the night as the freshman outside hitter connected at a .355 clip from the floor. Cassidy Greer set up the offense with 21 assists, while the Bucs were held without a block from the net for the first time all season.

Big South Standings
Charleston Southern is tied for seventh in the Big South standings heading into their final three matches of the season. The Bucs (4-7) are tied with Winthrop (4-7) after splitting the season series with the Eagles this past weekend. CSU is a half-game back from Radford (4-6) and Campbell (4-6) and will play the Camels next weekend in the season finale.

The top four teams in the rankings are Coastal Carolina (11-0), High Point (9-1), Liberty (7-3) and UNC Asheville (5-5). Trailing the Bucs are Gardner-Webb (3-7) and Presbyterian (1-10). CSU has posted wins over Winthrop, Radford, Gardner-Webb and Presbyterian this season in Big South play.
