CHARLOTTE, N.C. (BigSouthSports.com) - Charleston Southern's Addison Kaderli was named the Big South Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week this past week for her performances in CSU's wins over Presbyterian and Winthrop, as announced by the conference office this afternoon.
Kaderli was key to back-to-back Charleston Southern Big South wins over the weekend as CSU topped both Presbyterian and Winthrop at home in the Buc Dome on Friday and Saturday. Kaderli tied for the team lead with 3.43 kills per set and recorded a career-high and season-best 5.86 digs per set as the freshman outside hitter continues to display her all-around game on the court.
In Friday's match against Presbyterian, Kaderli connected at a .476 clip from the floor in recording 11 kills in CSU's 3-0 sweep over the Blue Hose. She added a team-high 16 digs over the three sets to pace CSU's defensive efforts. Kaderli helped the Bucs break open an 8-8 tie in the third set with the freshman finishing with five kills in leading the Bucs to victory.
Saturday against Winthrop Kaderli turned in one of the top performances of her short collegiate career as the freshman finished with 13 kills and a team-best 25 digs over the four set match. Kaderli helped swing the match in CSU's favor in the fourth set against the Eagles, combining on a block with Kylie Klein to spark the Bucs to the final 25-22 win in completing their third straight Big South victory.
The Buccaneers continue their seven-match home stand this week as CSU hosts The Citadel on Tuesday night on the Big South Network at 7 p.m. CSU hosts Senior Night on Friday night against Coastal Carolina.
