Bucs fall in midweek match to High Point

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern fell in straight sets to visiting High Point on Tuesday night in the Buc Dome as the Buccaneers fell 25-19, 25-17, 25-22.

Meredith Parrott and Addison Kaderli led the Bucs with six kills apiece on the night as CSU fell to 6-18, 1-6 in Big South play with the loss.

Parrott finished the match with 995 career kills and enters the weekend five kills away from becoming CSU's sixth member of the 1,000 kill club. The Buccaneers host UNC Asheville on Friday night in Big South play with first serve on the Big South Network set for 7 p.m.

Kadeli led the Buccaneers' defense with 14 digs, while Ashley Higginbothem was in double-digits with 12 digs for Head Coach Christy Mooberry. Kylie Klein added five blocks at the net for CSU.

Haley Barnes led High Point (16-7, 6-1) with 14 kills and 12 digs as the Panthers hit .150 from the floor in the match. Gabi Mirand set up the Panthers' offense with 25 assists, while Annemarie Chin was the team leader with 20 digs.

CSU went on a 5-1 run midway through the first set to narrow HPU's lead to 11-10 with Kaderli putting in a pair of kills during the stretch. The Panthers rebounded from the CSU run with a 7-1 run capped by a pair of Abby Broadstreet aces to build an 18-11 advantage on their way to closing out the 25-19 set win.

High Point never trailed in the second set in taking the 25-17 win. CSU rallied back from an 13-8 deficit with a 6-1 run to narrow the gap down to one at 14-13 with Cassidy Greer and Connor Malone both placing in kills during the stretch. The Panthers responded with a 5-0 run to take control of the set on their way to the win.

With the third set tied 7-7, CSU went on a 10-2 run on Allman and Parrott's serve with Kaderli putting in three kills during the span. However, High Point mounted a comeback, scoring 18 of the final 23 points capped by a Barnes' kill to complete the sweep.
