Scouting the Opposition
Coastal Carolina enters the Friday night match with a 12-4 overall record and a perfect 4-0 record in Big South play on the season. The Chanticleers are 3-0 at home on the year and are coming off of back-to-back home wins over High Point and Campbell. The Chants also have posted a 3-1 win over UNC Wilmington at home. Among their notable wins on the season include a 3-2 victory over Georgia Tech on August 28.
For the season, Coastal Carolina has been led by Leah Hardeman's 3.75 kills per set on the season. She also leads the Chants with a .258 hitting percentage, while Sara Boothe (6.10) and Aleksandra Djuric (5.42) both set up the Coastal offense. Defensively, Carla Cahill is the team leader with 3.70 digs per set, while Eszter Nagy is the blocking leader with 0.78 blocks per set.
Last Season Against Coastal Carolina
Last season the Buccaneers fell to the Chanticleers in both matches, dropping a 3-1 decision at the Buc Dome on October 10, while Coastal Carolina topped the Bucs 3-0 on November 7 at The HTC Center.
In the first match, Meredith Parrott led the Bucs with 14 kills and a .344 hitting percentage, while Siraya Windsor had a season-high 20 digs in the loss for CSU. Coastal Carolina was led by Leah Hardeman's double-double with 22 kills and 27 digs in the win. In the second match, Meredith Parrott led the Bucs with five kills, while Taylor Allman had 19 digs to pace CSU's defensive efforts.
Bucs against Coastal Carolina under Mooberry
CSU Head Coach Christy Mooberry is 0-4 lifetime against Coastal Carolina during her tenure at Charleston Southern with the Chants topping the Bucs twice at The HTC Center, while CSU fell twice inside the Buc Dome.
Buccaneers in Non-Conference Play
Charleston Southern posted a 4-12 overall record in non-conference play this season with the Bucs topping Savannah State (twice), N.C. Central and Elon in their schedule slate. Charleston Southern still has two non-conference matchups in the 2015 season, hosting The Citadel and South Carolina State (October 10).
Makeup Dates Announced
Charleston Southern Head Volleyball Coach Christy Mooberry and the Buccaneers have announced the makeup dates for the Big South Conference matches against Campbell and High Point. The Bucs will host Campbell on Tuesday, October 13, and CSU will host High Point on Tuesday, October 20. The matches were originally scheduled for October 2 and 3 at the Buccaneer Field House, but due to inclement weather and flooding, were postponed.
