Volleyball Preview: Buccaneers travel to The Citadel for Tuesday night matchup

CHARLESTON, S.C. - CSU travels to The Citadel on Tuesday night as the Buccaneers look to snap a four match skid on the road as the take on the Bulldogs at the McAlister Field House. First serve between the Bucs and the Bulldogs is set for 7 p.m.

CSU Volleyball Match Notes vs. The Citadel

Scouting the Opposition
The Citadel enters the Tuesday night match against the Buccaneers with a 4-7 overall record with wins over Siena, Gardner-Webb, Alabama A&M and South Carolina State. The Bulldogs opened the season on the road for three straight tournaments, taking on the field at the Georgia Tech Tournament, the Runnin' Bulldog Classic and the UNC Asheville Tournament. The Tuesday night match between CSU and The Citadel is the Bulldogs' first home match of the 2015 season. 

Moriah Smith leads the Bulldogs on the season with 3.84 kills per set, while Megan Sowell is averaging 3.09 kills per set on the year. Smith is also the team leader with a .213 hitting percentage on the season. For the season, Rachel Keefer (8.74) and Logan Smith (6.84) both set up The Citadel's offense, while Samantha Espy leads the backline with 4.64 digs per set. At the net, Zuri Fenderson is the team leader at 0.68 blocks per set. 

Last Season against The Citadel
Charleston Southern took their lone matchup against The Citadel last season at The Citadel Invitational on September 6, winning in four sets, 25-15, 25-21, 19-25, 25-17. The Buccaneers were led by Siraya Windsor's 22 kill-10 dig double-double, while Meredith Parrott (14) and Kylie Klein (11) both had double-digits in the kills category to lead CSU past the Bulldogs. Kirsten Struksnes led the Bucs defensive efforts in the match with 18 digs as CSU jumped ahead early in all three of their set wins on their way to the victory. 

Bucs against The Citadel under Mooberry
CSU Head Coach Christy Mooberry is 2-0 lifetime against The Citadel during her tenure at Charleston Southern with the Bucs topping the Bulldogs both times, 3-1, at McAlister Field House. The Bucs won in four sets in 2014 at The Citadel Invitational. CSU also topped the Bulldogs 3-1 in the 2013 Citadel Invitational. 

Recapping the Weekend
Freshman outside hitter Addison Kaderli stepped up for the Buccaneers over the past week and led CSU with a team-high 2.94 kills per set against College of Charleston and CSU's opponents at the Grand Canyon Tournament. She is currently third on the team with 2.25 kills per set on the season in the CSU offense. 

Meredith Parrott continues to lead the Bucs in hitting percentage on the season as the senior middle blocker connected at a .270 rate over the past week. She leads CSU with a .297 hitting percentage on the year and is second on the team with 2.53 kills per set and third in blocks at 0.78 per set. 

Sophomore Kylie Klein continues to impress at the net for the Buccaneers after averaging 1.24 blocks per set for CSU over their four matches. She had a season-high four solo blocks and five block assists against Grand Canyon on Friday. She leads CSU with 1.15 blocks per set. 

Senior setter Cassidy Greer had her first 50+ set effort of the 2015 season against Niagara this weekend at the GCU Tournament. Greer had 50 assists and 12 digs in recording her third double-double of the week for the Bucs. She averaged 9.24 assists per set.
