CHARLOTTE, N.C. (BigSouthSports.com) - Charleston Southern's senior middle blocker Meredith Parrott was named the Choice Hotels Big South Offensive Player of the Week for the matches played from August 31 to September 6.
Parrott led the Bucs offense on the weekend, earning Elon Phoenix Classic All-Tournament honors as the senior averaged 2.90 kills per set and hit .407 over the weekend as CSU went 2-1 with wins over Elon and N.C. Central.
Parrott had 10 kills in the opening match against Elon, hitting a team-best .318 from the floor while adding four blocks at the net in CSU's 3-1 win over the Phoenix. In the Bucs' lone loss, she led the team in kills and hitting percentage (.429) against Wake Forest. Saturday's final match against N.C. Central, Parrott led all players with 13 kills, hitting .478 from the floor and added a career-high seven blocks in the three set sweep.
Parrott also added six kills, hitting .333 against Savannah State in the Bucs' sweep over the Tigers on Tuesday night.
For the season, Parrott is eighth in the Big South and leads the Bucs with a .320 hitting percentage. She is averaging 2.30 kills and 0.78 blocks per set overall.
