Mooberry, Bucs add two more to the 2015-2016 signing class

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Charleston Southern volleyball team and head coach Christy Mooberry announced the signing of Krista Kuglin and Madi Martin as the duo will join the CSU squad for the 2015-16.

The signing of Kuglin and Martin raise the CSU signing class to four as the duo will join early signees Addison Kaderli and Hannah Western as the Bucs continue to build up for the Big South season next year.

"This is a class with a lot of solid intangibles like self-discipline, focus, and responsibility," commented Mooberry on the 2015-16 signing class. "I loved getting to know this group and hear about the personal goals they have, their excitement in those goals, and what plans they put in place to reach those goals.  The obvious level of personal responsibility, discipline and desire for achievement is a large part of what we are looking for in our athletes.  I'm excited to see what this group can do, especially when paired with the returning group of athletes we have for this upcoming season."

Kuglin signs with the Bucs by way of Minnetonka, Minn. and Minnetonka High School where the 5-11 rightside/outside hitter played under head coach Karl Katzenberger. She also played on the Northern Lights club team under head coach Eric Poppelman.

Kuglin was a three-sport athlete in high school, earning varsity letters in track, basketball and volleyball. She was also awarded the Minnetonka First Mate award. She plans to major in nursing at Charleston Southern.

"I chose CSU because I wanted a place where I could play high level volleyball, get a fantastic education in nursing and feel at home even though I am thousands of miles away," said Kuglin on signing with CSU. "CSU was able to offer me all of that and more! I also really felt like the coaches cared about me and helped me through the whole process. They helped me get in touch with all my new teammates which made the transition a lot smoother.  I'm really excited with my choice I feel like this is where God wants me. I'm glad I'm in a place where faith and learning are integrated into one great place!"

Martin joins the Bucs by way of Birmingham, Mich. and Ernest W. Seaholm High School where she lined up as a defensive specialist and libero under head coach Heather Lippert. She also lined up on the Team Detroit Club team under head coach Larry Wyatt.

During her time at Seaholm, Martin was a two-time All-League selection, earning All-Region honors in her senior season. Throughout her career, she lined up in 312 sets and finished with 1,165 career digs, averaging 3.7 digs per set. She also finished with 1,365 serve receptions, 89 aces and 34 career kills.

Off the court, Martin was a four-time OAA Academic Scholar and she plans to major in Biology at Charleston Southern.

"The location is perfect," Martin said on signing with CSU. "There's so much to do all the time and everyone is so friendly! The environment of the school and team is indescribable and I'm psyched to be a part of it. Plus, I'm getting the opportunity to go to a great school while playing my favorite sport and truthfully nothing is better than that."
