CHARLOTTE, N.C. (BigSouthSports.com) - Charleston Southern's Meredith Parrott was named to the 2014 Big South Volleyball All-Academic Team as the junior middle blocker was recognized by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.
Parrott, a junior from Mobile, Ala., was named to the All-Academic team for the second straight year as the religion and sociology major is a three-time Dean's List honoree and a CSU Scholar Athlete. She was also recognized on the Big South Presidential Honor Roll in each of the past two seasons.
Parrott, a 2012 Big South All-Freshman selection, has improved on the court in each of the past two years, finishing this season sixth in the Big South conference in hitting percentage at .291 and fifth in kills per set at 3.34. She also finished fourth in the Big South in points per set at 3.98.
Highlights from her season included20 kills in just 28 attempts against UNC Asheville, as well as a 20 kill match against Stetson. She finished with 22 matches with double-digits kills on the season.
Parrott ended her junior season sitting among the all-time CSU leaders in multiple categories including kills (789, 12th), attacks (1,947, 17th), hitting percentage (0.267, 6th), and blocks (212, 19th).
