Windsor with fifth consecutive double-double in 3-0 loss to Gardner-Webb

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - Siraya Windsor recorded her fifth consecutive double-double and her 12th of the season in Charleston Southern's 3-0 loss to Gardner-Webb on Saturday afternoon inside Paul Porter Arena.

Windsor finished the match with a team-high 14 kills and 13 digs overall to pace the Buccaneers as CSU fell to the Runnin' Bulldogs to wrap up the Big South Conference road trip.

Meredith Parrott added 12 kills and Katrina Houston was also in double-digits with 10 of her own to pace CSU as the Bucs hit .175 from the floor in the match. Cassidy Greer set up the CSU offense with 33 assists and three service aces, while Ashley Higginbothem had 13 digs from the floor. Kylie Klein and Parrott had two blocks apiece to pace the Bucs at the net.

CSU falls to 10-17 overall, 1-8 in Big South play on the season, while Gardner-Webb improves to 11-15, 4-4 in conference action with the win.

Brianna Starr led three Gardner-Webb players in double-digits with 13 kills, while Tyra Montour and Tyler Cockrell had 11 kills apiece as the Runnin' Bulldogs hit .292 from the floor as a team. Heather Feldman set up the GWU attack with 33 assists, while Anna Pashkova had a match-high 19 digs. Cockrell completed the double-double with 10 digs, while Montour was the team-leader with three blocks on the night.

CSU and GWU battled throughout the first set as the teams tied up six times with two lead changes over the first 24 points. Cockrell and Starr combined with back-to-back kills to push the Runnin' Bulldogs ahead 14-12 as Gardner-Webb built an eventual five point lead at 21-16. The Bucs battled back with back-to-back kills by Parrott as the junior outside hitter connected on three kills over the final six points, but it wasn't enough as GWU closed out the 25-21 first set victory.

The Runnin' Bulldogs recorded the first four points in leading from start to finish in building a 2-0 lead over the Bucs. Gardner-Webb took their largest lead of the set at five points in going up 22-17 on a Montour service ace. The Bucs rallied back with four consecutive kills to narrow the margin down to one as Parrott and Windsor connected on kills, before Houston hit back-to-back kills to pull CSU back to within one point. A Starr kill ended the CSU rally and Sydney Marshall served GWU to the second set win to give the Runnin' Bulldogs the 25-21 set win and 2-0 lead heading into the break.

The third set saw CSU hold the 8-3 advantage early behind a pair of Greer service aces. The Runnin' Bulldogs battled back with a 6-1 run to knot the set up at 9-9 as the teams settled in by trading points. The Bucs and GWU had nine ties and six lead changes in the frame with the final coming at 17-17 following a CSU service error. Gardner-Webb used the point to go on a 6-2 run in building a 23-19 lead.

Parrott kept the Bucs alive with her 12th kill of the night, but CSU was unable to gain traction as Marshall and Montour closed out the match with a block closing out the GWU sweep.

Charleston Southern returns home to the Buc Dome on Tuesday night as CSU hosts Columbia (S.C.) in non-conference action. The game will double as CSU's Pink Out match in support of breast cancer awareness. First serve between the Bucs and the Fighting Koalas is set for 7 p.m.
