Charleston Southern is 2-12 against the College of Charleston since the 2000 season. The Bucs and Cougars took a five year hiatus from the 2004-2009 season before picking back up with a match each of the past five seasons.

Scouting the Cougars...
College of Charleston enters the Tuesday night match with a 3-4 overall record on the season, posting a 1-2 record in the season-opening CofC Invitational, and a 2-1 record in the Georgia Tournament. The Cougars also fell in a mid-week match to Eastern Washington early this season. On the year, CofC has posted victories over Davidson, Belmont and Chattanooga, while falling to Mercer, Kent State, Eastern Washington and Georgia.
The defending Colonial Athletic Association champions, College of Charleston was selected to repeat their title in the 2014 preseason poll released in mid-August. The Cougars received 62 votes and six of the nine first place votes in the selection. Among their preseason accolades include senior right side hitter Sloane White being named to the Preseason All-CAA volleyball team after a junior campaign that saw her average 2.58 kills per set and a .309 hitting percentage on the season. She also joined the College of Charleston's 1,000 kill club in the CAA title match last season against Northeastern.
For the season, Melissa Morello leads the Cougars with 3.27 kills per set, while Maddie Hills is the team's hitting leader at .318. Kallie McKown is one of four setters used by CofC head coach Jason Kepner in averaging 5.63 assists per set.
Defensively, Andi Zbojniewicz is backrow leader with 4.27 digs per set, while Hills leads the Cougars at the net with 0.85 blocks per set.
Buccaneers against the Colonial...
Charleston Southern is currently 0-1 against the CAA this season, falling to James Madison in the JMU Classic earlier this season, 3-1. JMU and CofC are the only Colonial teams the Bucs will play in 2014.
Meredith Parrott, CSU, Jr., Outside Hitter
Parrott continues to impress in the 2014 season as the junior outside hitter sits atop the Big South Conference on the season in averaging 4.36 kills per set and 5.02 points per set. A 2013 All-Academic selection and 2012 Big South All-Freshman team selection, Parrott has continued to improve her standing in the CSU record books throughout her career, sitting in the top five in hitting percentage and the top 25 in both career kills and career blocks. For the season, Parrott has reached double-digits in kills in all six matches on the season, including a season-high 20 this past weekend in The Citadel Invitational Opener on Sept. 5 against Stetson.
Melissa Morello, CofC, Jr., Outside Hitter
Morello sparks the CofC offense early in the 2014 season as the junior outside hitter paces the Cougars with 3.27 kills per set. The Milwaukee, Wis. native is hitting .174 on the season for CofC and has been in double-digits in the kills category in six of the Cougars' seven matches on the year. Morello posted a season-best 20 kills on Sept. 2 against Eastern Washington, and has four double-doubles on the season, including her last game against Georgia with 10 kills and 11 digs.
After a one year hiatus, the Buccaneers will return to hosting the 2014 Wingate Invitational at Charleston Southern from September 12-13 inside the Buc Dome. Welcome to the Coaching Staff...
CSU welcomed new assistant coach Lauren Comfort to the CSU staff this past January, coming to the Bucs by way of Trevecca Nazarene in Nashville, Tenn. During her time with the Trojans', she assisted in all areas of the program. Her playing days saw Comfort standout at Olivet Nazarene Unversity where she led the team to a 124-49 overall record and 41-2 in conference play, where she finished with 1,516 career digs and 169 aces.
The Citadel Invitational Round-Up...
Charleston Southern went 2-1 overall at The Citadel Invitational, falling in their opening match to Stetson, before rallying to defear North Carolina A&T and The Citadel to improve to 3-3 overall on the season
Siraya Windsor was named to the All-Tournament team after she averaged 5.18 kills per set, hitting .304 from the floor. She also recorded double-doubles in all three matches, including a 21-kill, 17-dig game against Stetson in the opener
Taylor Allman was the Bucs primary libero on the tournament, averaging 3.82 digs per set on the tournament. She had a season-high 16 digs in the CSU win over The Citadel
Meredith Parrott had her first 20-kill game of the season in the Bucs tournament opener against Stetson, hitting .310 from the floor on the weekend to pace the Bucs
Charleston Southern senior setter Kirsten Struksnes is the lone international player on the CSU roster in the 2014 season, coming to the Bucs from Calgary, Alberta. During her time with the Bucs, Struksnes is sitting seventh all-time among the career leaders with 1,374 career set assists. Highlights from her playing career include four 50-plus set assist matches, including two back-to-back on Oct. 9, 2012 at The Citadel (55 assists) and Oct. 12 vs. Liberty (56 assists).
Tournament Run last season...
Last season the Buccaneers went 4-8 overall over the four tournament weekends they played before getting into conference play. The Bucs went 0-3 in the Davidson Tournament, 1-2 in the Jacksonville Tournament, 2-1 at the Citadel Invitational and 1-2 at the Georgia Southern Tournament. CSU posted wins over Mississippi Valley State, The Citadel, S.C. State and Jackson State.
All Day, Allman...
Taylor Allman has taken over the backrow for the Bucs in the past two seasons and stepped up again this past weekend as the versatile outside hitter/libero led the way for the Bucs in averaging 3.82 digs per set on the weekend. Allman is currently seventh in the Big South in averaging 4.14 digs while junior libero Ashley Higginbothem recovers from surgery, and continues to provide steady leadership for the Bucs with seven matches where she has reached double-digits, including a season-high 18 against James Madison.
