ATLANTA, GA. - Charleston Southern's Wynter Davis was recognized on the All-Tournament Team from this past weekend's Georgia Tech Courtyard Invitational.
Davis, a senior middle blocker from Omaha, Neb., starting all three matches for head coach Al Givens, averaging 1.56 kills per set, hitting .226 from the floor and led the team with eight total blocks, averaging 0.89 blocks per set over the three matches the Buccaneers played on the weekend.
The 5-9 athlete opened up the tournament with a team-high five kills in the first match and added four blocks against Southern Methodist University. Against host Georgia Tech on Saturday morning, Davis hit .333 from the floor with three kills and a service ace against the Yellow Jackets. In the final match of the weekend, she had her best all-around match with six kills, one service ace, a dig, four blocks and a set assist against Cal State Fullerton.
Davis was joined on the All-Tournament team by Cal State Fullerton's Bre Moreland and Kayla Neto, SMU's Courtney Manning and Cailin Bula, and Georgia Tech's Nicki Meyer and Tournament MVP Bailey Hunter.
Charleston Southern volleyball continues the 2012 season this upcoming weekend at the Charleston Southern Volleyball Tournament as CSU welcomes Canisius, USC Upstate, Mercer and Furman for a two-day tournament beginning on Friday, August 31st. First match of the weekend is set for 11 a.m. as Furman takes on Mercer at the Buccaneer Fieldhouse, while the Buccaneers begin play at 1 p.m. against Canisius.
