ROCK HILL, S.C. - Charleston Southern got one last chance to tune-up before the Big South Championships next week. They also got the chance to compete at the same location as the conference championship at the Winthrop Twilight on Wednesday afternoon.
Milan Williams took home titles in both the shot put and discus. Megan Newton returned to competition and took second in the javelin with a throw of 31.13m. In jumps, Victoria Gibson took home a title in the triple jump and finished second in the long jump.
The 4x100 relay team of Harris, James, Edmondson, and Ardley set a new personal best of 47.41. Edmondson also won the 400 hurdles and came close to a personal best with a time of 1:00.85. Eden Senior did achieve a personal best time of 1:03.10 in the 400 hurdles. The Bucs took the top four spots in the 1500 with Inman, Mills, Thornhill, and Schvaneveldt setting their personal bests.
Chaneal Harris won the 100m hurdles and set a personal best time of 14.26. Similarly, Javenique McDowell won the 800m and set a personal best with a time of 2.17.72. Rebecca Cadet came in second behind McDowell. Lauryn James took home the title in the 200m and Sarah Taylor ran a personal best in the 3K with a time of 12:01.55.
The Bucs will return to Rock Hill on May 8th for the Big South Championships. The meet will run for three days beginning on Wednesday and finishing on Friday.
