GREENSBORO/CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Charleston Southern competed at two different meets this weekend. Some of the team traveled to Charlotte for the Charlotte Invitational while others went go Greensboro for the Aggie Invitational. The Bucs turned in several personal bests and three podium finishes.
- Milan Williams - Discus (Second, 44.41)
- Javenique McDowell - 1500m (Third, 4:50.92)
- Caroline Edmondson - 1500m (Fourth, 4:51.05)
- Lauryn James - 100m (Third, 11.80), 200m (Fifth, 24.55)
Lauryn James was the Bucs' top sprinter over the weekend as she finished third in the 100 with a time of 11.80. She also took fifth in the 200m at 24.55 with Rhoné Allen not far behind her with a eighth place time of 25.11. In the hurdles, Caroline Edmondson finished in the top 10 of the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:04.01.
The only jumper in action for the Bucs took home a personal best as Victoria Gibson jumped her best 11.82m in the triple jump.
Milan Williams threw her personal best in the discus with her best mark measuring in at 44.41m. She also competed in the shot put and hammer throw.
Javenique McDowell took home personal bests in both of her events this weekend. She followed up a 4:50.92 1500m finish with 2:17.92 personal record in the 800m. Freshmen Makennah Mills and Janelle Willemse also achieved personal bests. Mills came in the 3K steeplechase 11:30.57 and Willemse in the 5K with a mark of 19:11.06.
The Bucs are back in action next weekend in Durham, N.C. for the Duke Invitational. The events start on Friday, April 19 and continue the following day.
