CLEMSON, S.C. - With a chance to improve their national placements and shake off the rust after final exams, three Lady Bucs travelled up to Clemson to take part in the 2011 Bob Pollock Invitational on Saturday.
Tamisha Foster posted the best mark of anyone not wearing a Clemson uniform in the triple jump as she placed third with a mark of 12.50m (41-0.25), her best mark of the season.
Deona Jones finished fourth in the long jump as she got a mark of 5.67m (18-7.25) on her third jump. She finished behind two Clemson jumpers and an unattached athlete in the competition.
After fouling on her first attempt in the shot put, Daisy Whitaker improved in each of her next three throws. Her mark of 11.56m put her in the finals, and on her very next toss, she put it 12.22m (40-1.25) out there to finish eighth overall.
She also competed in the discus throw, getting a mark of 37.66m (123-07), which she hit twice on the day. The mark put her in fifth overall for the competition.
Next weekend, the Lady Bucs will travel to Jacksonville, Fla., to compete in the North Florida Invitational. The men's team will also join them at the meet.
