Patria Norman put herself in second place after day one, using a spectacular performance in the high jump event to garner 3150 points at the 2010 Deacon Combined Events Classic, Tuesday. Norman's tally is 14 points ahead of her total from day one of the Big South Conference Championship Meet.
Norman cleared 1.60 meters (5 feet, 3 inches) in the high jump, setting a new personal best in the event, and tying for fifth overall. Norman also claimed fifth in the 200 meter dash with a 25.67 second finish.
Norman moved up to second in the 100 meter hurdles, running 14.45 seconds, 0.05 seconds off her pace at the Big South Championship Meet. Her best event of the day, Norman won the shot put event, earning 672 points with a heave of 12.17 meters.
She will compete in the long jump, javelin and 800 meter run on day two of the meet.
