Gibson Qualifies For Semis; Notches Best Finish Ever

DES MOINES, Iowa - Dionne Gibson started her day with the 28th-fastest time in the country, and improved on that to make the semifinals of the 200m dash at the 2008 NCAA Track and Field Championships.

Gibson ran 23.75 seconds to claim the 16th and final spot in the semifinal race, which was run later in the day. In her heat of the semis, she ran 23.78 seconds, improving her placement by one spot.

After becoming the first female to ever qualify for the NCAA Championships, Gibson's 15th-place finish was the highest by any CSU athlete at the championship meet.
