CHARLESTON, S.C. - Head Coach Anca Dumitrescu released the 2019 Charleston Southern women's tennis spring schedule on Friday afternoon as the Buccaneers look to continue their string of success this season under the first-year head coach.
The Bucs have posted a 74-11 home record at the Buccaneer Tennis Complex over the last nine seasons under former head coach Mike Baker. CSU will look to continue that stretch of success with a veteran team returning and nine home matches on the slate for 2019.
CSU returns All-Conference singles and doubles selection Madalina Man, as well as seniors Kimberley Koerner, Yana Morar, and Filippa Ericson to a roster that boasts eight players that gained match experience last season. Liz Williams, Nevena Georgieva, and Tiffany Pyritz will also join the Bucs on the courts this spring following a challenging fall schedule.
The Bucs open the spring schedule on the road with five consecutive matches away from the Buccaneer Tennis Complex. CSU travels to Clemson on January 18 to open the season. Two weeks later, the Bucs make the trip to Spartanburg, S.C. and Furman University for matches against Furman and Louisville on February 1-2.
CSU continues its opening road trip on February 15 at Charlotte in its final prelude to Big South Conference play. The Bucs open conference action at USC Upstate on February 16 at the USC Upstate Tennis Complex with first serve set for 1 p.m.
The Bucs host UNC Wilmington on February 23 for CSU's home opener, before returning to the road the following day at College of Charleston to close out the February schedule.
Four of CSU's first five matches in March are at home as the Buccaneers host conference opponents Hampton (Mar. 2), Campbell (Mar. 4) and Gardner-Webb (Mar. 9). A midweek road trip to UNC Asheville on March 13 ends the homestand before CSU returns to host Presbyterian on March 19.
The Bucs make their final road trip of 2019 on March 26-27 as they travel to Radford and Longwood in conference play.
CSU starts its final four-match homestand on March 30 against Savannah State. The Bucs close out the regular season against Delaware (Apr. 2), Winthrop (Apr. 6), and Tulane (Apr. 7). The Winthrop match ends Big South Conference play for the year, while the Tulane match is set to be Senior Day at the Buccaneer Tennis Complex.
The 2019 Big South Conference Championships will be hosted by Radford University from April 16-20.
