CHARLESTON, S.C. - Head Coach Mike Baker released the 2018 Charleston Southern women's tennis schedule on Friday afternoon as the Buccaneers look to continue their home success at the Buccaneer Tennis Complex this season.
The Bucs are 67-10 over the past eight seasons at home following a perfect 9-0 stretch at the Buccaneer Tennis Complex last season. CSU picked up home wins over Appalachian State, Buffalo, and NCAA Division III power Emory, as well as eventual Big South Champion Winthrop.
"I am excited about our schedule this year," Baker said. "We are playing a lot of great teams this upcoming year and are looking forward to the challenge this season."
Senior Sophie Cloessner returns after earning First Team All-Conference singles for the second consecutive season this year, while fellow senior Valeria Koussenkova and junior Kimberley Koerner also garnered All-Conference singles nods in 2017.
Junior Yana Morar and sophomore Femcke van Rensburg also return to the roster as the Bucs look to continue the momentum from 2017 after CSU went 17-3 overall on the year, 7-1 in Big South Conference play.
The Bucs open the 2018 season at Clemson as CSU takes part of the two-day Duckworth Winter Classic. CSU opens play on January 20 against Clemson and UNC Wilmington, before closing out the weekend with a match on the 21st against Appalachian State.
CSU continues play on the road at the end of February as the Buccaneers travel to South Carolina on February 24-25. The Bucs take on host USC on February 24 and then close out the weekend on February 25 against North Florida at the Carolina Tennis Center.
A four-match homestand starts the month of March as the Bucs open Big South play on March 2 against Longwood. The Bucs continue the stand against Savannah State (Mar. 3), UNC Asheville (Mar. 4), and UNC Greensboro (Mar. 9).
CSU hits the road in Big South play on March 12 and 14 with trips to Campbell and Presbyterian. The Bucs close out the month with home matches against SCAD (Mar. 16), Liberty (Mar. 24), and Radford (Mar. 25), and road trips to Gardner-Webb (Mar. 18) and Emory (Mar. 30).
The Bucs wrap up the regular season on the road at the beginning of April with their final conference match against Winthrop (Apr. 7), and a road trip to Elon (Apr. 9).
The Big South women's tennis championship will be held on April 17-20 in Rock Hill, S.C. on the campus of Winthrop University.
