CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern ran its winning streak to 11 in a row with a 7-0 victory over visiting Presbyterian College on Wednesday afternoon at the Buccaneer Tennis Complex.
The Buccaneers (11-1, 5-0) rallied to take two of the three doubles matches and followed with straight set wins on all six singles courts to pick up their fifth conference win of the 2017 season. Presbyterian took the victory on doubles court no. 3 in falling to 11-7, 1-4 in Big South play on the season.
PC took the opening match on doubles court no. 3 with Brittany Nuttall and Beth Taylor topping Yana Morar and Kimberley Koerner, 6-4. Mi'Kola Cooper and Valeria Koussenkova evened the doubles score with a 6-2 win on court no. 2 over Caroline Ferrari and Demi Henschel.
The Bucs carried the momentum into singles play with Koerner improving to 12-0 on the season with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Croxton on court no. 4. Luecke finished close behind with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Johnson on court no. 1. Cloessner sealed the CSU win on court no. 2 with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Ferrari.
Morar continued the CSU winning streak with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Thompson on court no. 6. Cooper followed with a 7-6, 6-0 win on court no. 3.
Koussenkova completed the sweep with a tough-fought 6-4, 7-6 win over Nuttall on court no. 5.
The Buccaneers continue the 2017 season at home on Sunday afternoon as CSU welcomes Emory to the Buccaneer Tennis Complex. First serve on the doubles courts is set for 1 p.m.
