CHARLOTTE, N.C. (BigSouthSports.com) - Charleston Southern sophomore Kimberley Koerner was named this week's Big South Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week after leading the Buccaneers to a 2-1 record over the first week of the 2017 season.
Koerner posted a 5-1 overall record to open her sophomore season with the Bucs as the Wedel, Germany native went 3-0 in singles play and 2-1 in doubles action against UNC Wilmington, Wofford, and S.C. State.
She started with a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles at UNC Wilmington, and followed with a 6-1 doubles win (No. 3 flight), and 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 singles victory at No. 4 vs. Wofford.
Koerner concluded her weekend with wins against South Carolina State at No. 3 doubles (6-1) and No. 4 singles (7-5, 6-0). She helped clinch the Buccaneers' doubles points against Wofford and S.C. State.
Charleston Southern continues the 2017 season on Thursday afternoon as the Buccaneers travel to Savannah State to take on the Lady Tigers. First serve at the Tiger Tennis Courts is set for 2 p.m.
