Luecke earns Big South Player of the Week honors for the second time

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (BigSouthSports.com) - For the second straight week, Charleston Southern women's tennis junior Nicolin Luecke was named the Big South Women's Tennis Player of the Week as announced by the conference office on Wednesday afternoon.

Luecke went 4-1 this past week in leading the Bucs to wins over USC Upstate and Michigan State, while CSU fell to No. 18 Tulsa on Monday afternoon. Luecke went a perfect 3-0 in singles on the top court and 1-1 in doubles with the lone loss coming against Tulsa's top doubles team on Monday.

Luecke led the Bucs to their fourth straight sweep to open the month of March against USC Upstate, winning 6-1, 7-6 in singles play on court no. 1. She combined with Valeria Koussenkova to shutout the Spartans' top doubles team with the 6-0 win on court no. 1.

Friday against No. 75 Michigan State, Luecke again powered her way over her opponent with a 6-4, 6-0 win over the Spartans' top singles player. Her win sparked the CSU rally in singles and gave the Bucs the 3-2 lead over MSU. Luecke and Koussenkova's doubles match went unfinished.

Monday against No. 18 Tulsa, Luecke again dominated on the top singles court with a 6-4, 6-0 win over the top player of the Golden Hurricane. Luecke broke serve three times in the second set in recording the shutout frame.

The Buccaneers are in action this afternoon as they continue Big South Conference play at Presbyterian. First serve in doubles competition in Clinton, S.C., is set for 2 p.m.
