CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern is back in action for the first time in nearly three weeks as the Buccaneers make the trip to Kennesaw, Ga. and Kennesaw State University for a non-conference matchup at the Siegel Student Recreation & Activities Center. Doubles play is scheduled for 2 p.m. between the Bucs and the Owls.
It will be the first road trip of the 2016 season for the Buccaneers and first time back on the courts in a competition setting since CSU topped S.C. State in their opener at the Buccaneer Tennis Complex on February 6, 4-3.
It's the second time in two seasons the Bucs have made the trip to Kennesaw with CSU playing in the KSU Tournament last season at the Fair Oaks Club, taking on South Alabama and Emory over the two days. The Bucs fell to the Jaguars in the opener, 4-3, while topping Emory, 5-2, on the final day of the tournament.
The Bucs-Owls match will be the inaugural match held at the Siegel Student Recreation & Activities Center with the KSU complex opening officially this past fall.
CSU went 6-1 last season on the road away from Charleston, S.C. with the Bucs falling only to Liberty on the road.
The Owls enter the contest with a 1-6 overall record with their lone win coming against Jacksonville State on February 12. KSU topped the Gamecocks 5-1 in their win.
CSU topped S.C. State in their lone match in the 2016 season, taking two doubles matches and three of the six singles matches with senior Chanel Bell putting the Bucs over the top with a 3-6, 7-6, 6-1 win on court no. 6.
The Bucs open Big South Conference play next week, hosting Radford at 2 p.m. at the Buccaneer Tennis Complex, before making the trip to Longwood the following Saturday.
