Soccer Preview: Buccaneers look to put Liberty Flames out at home

Scouting the Opposition
Liberty enters Tuesday's matchup with a 10-7 overall record and a 6-2 conference record on the season. The Flames are coming off of four consecutive shutout wins consisting of victories over Winthrop, Campbell, Radford and, most recently, UNC Asheville.  Liberty's two conference losses came from their September 24 match against High Point and their October 5 matchup with Gardner-Webb.  Liberty's offense is lead by freshman forward Gabrielle Farrell and junior forward Isabella Habuda.  Both players have recorded seven goals for the season.  Farrell also leads the Flames with six assists.  In addition, Farrell is ranked 2nd in the Big South in points with 20.  

Redshirt senior goalkeeper Holly Van Noord leads Liberty's defense with 81 saves for the season for a save percentage of .862.  Van Noord also leads the Big South in goals against average with .857 and is ranked 2nd for most shutouts in the conference with a total of six this season.
 
Last Time Between CSU and Liberty * September 26, 2015
Alyssa Dellacqua stopped 15 shots over the first 70 minutes of the contest, but Liberty was able to finally find the back of the net twice late as Charleston Southern fell to the host Flames in Big South play on Saturday afternoon, 2-0.  Dellacqua faced 27 shots, 17 on goal, in making 15 saves for the Bucs in the loss. The total was the fifth-most saves in program history as the Toms River, N.J. native faced Liberty players firing early and often with 10 Flames launching shots in the contest.

Anna Sells led the CSU offense in a late effort to comeback with four shots, three on goal in the loss. Chelsea Frankeny added three shots on goal for the Bucs.  Charleston Southern fought back over the final 10 minutes but the Bucs were unable to find the net as the Flames closed out the shutout.

Recapping CSU's Last Game
Charleston Southern was held scoreless on Saturday afternoon as the Buccaneers fell to Longwood on the road, 1-0.  The contest at Longwood's Athletic Complex was the Buccaneers (6-9-1, 2-5-1) third match in four days.  The Lancers (7-9-1, 4-3-1) capitalized on the Bucs' disadvantage, with a strong performance consisting of a 26-1 shot advantage.  Longwood's defense also showed up, holding the Bucs shotless until the 87th minute.

Defensively in the net, Liz Amanda Brown (4-4-1) gave a solid performance made up of eight saves, including an impressive leaping deflection of a hard shot on goal by Longwood's Emilie Kupsov in the 70th minute of the match.
