Buccaneers topped by Hawaii on day two of Coca-Cola Malihini Kipa Aloha tournament

HONOLULU, Hawaii – Charleston Southern was shutout by Hawaii as the Rainbow Wahines topped the Buccaneers, 7-0, at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium on Saturday afternoon. 

Dana Thomsen (2-1) led Hawaii (7-7) in the circle with nine strikeouts and two hits in the complete effort.  The Rainbow Wahines put up a tough offense as well, recording at least one run through six and a half innings.

Caitlyn Emberson got the Buccaneers' (10-11) first hit of the game with a double to lead off the second.  Thomsen struck out CSU's next two batters and a groundout ended the top of the inning.

Stephanie Bergmann recorded CSU's second hit of the contest in the top of the sixth with a double in the left center gap, but was left stranded on second.  Hawaii added one more run in the bottom of the inning for the 7-0 lead.  Thomsen recorded her ninth strikeout as she set the side down in order in the top of the seventh for the 7-0 Buccaneer defeat.

Charleston Southern now turns its attention to the final day of the Coca-Cola Malihini Kipa Aloha tournament as they take on the loser of tonight's game of Hawaii vs. Toledo.
