Meet Preview
Charleston Southern's men's cross country team bounced back from its toughest outing of the 2018 season with one of the best team performances in Big South history at conference championships.

The Bucs finished 21st at the Penn State National Open in their toughest competition to date. CSU took on several of the nation's top teams at the meet and used the experience to prepare for the conference competition.

The training paid off as CSU placed all five scoring members in the top-10 at the Big South Championships on their way to placing second overall at the meet. It was the first time CSU placed five runners on the All-Conference team and CSU's best finish since the 1990 season.

CSU has recorded a balanced effort at the top of the lineup with three different players recording top finishes for Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Jim Stintzi. Junior Jeryck Wilson was among the returning runners to watch in the conference after receiving All-Conference recognition last season. He has lived up to the billing with an individual title at the Charleston Classic.

Sophomore Matt Inman earned top finishes for CSU at the Commodore Classic and the Penn State National Open. The Lexington, Ky. native also received Big South All-Academic recognition from the conference office to go with All-Conference recognition after finishing sixth at the meet.

Fellow sophomore Andrew Akright battled through the tough conditions to lead the Buccaneers at the conference championship. The Chesterfield, Va. native finished fifth overall in the men's eight-kilometer event with a time of 25:51.2 to set a new personal record.

The trio combined with junior Trevor Dominy (eighth) and sophomore Jaymee Domoney (10th) to record 36 points overall in the race.

The Bucs are taking nine runners to the meet with freshmen Timothy Depue, David Bergamasco, Benjamin Eddy, and Joshua Martin joining the Bucs in the starters box.

CSU will face off against runners representing 38 institutions at the race.
