CHARLESTON, S.C. - Jeryck Wilson led three Buccaneers in the top five as Charleston Southern won the inaugural Buccaneer Open on Saturday morning.
The Bucs topped the field in the men's six-kilometer race with CSU averaging a 21:16 pace as a team over the course laid out behind the Buccaneer Field House.
Wilson opened up the season in All-Conference form finishing third overall with a time of 21:03.8. Trevor Dominy was one spot back in 21:03.9, while Jaymee Domoney rounded out the individual top five in 21:04.0.
The Citadel's Colin Martin won the individual title with a time of 20:27.9. Savannah State's Terrence Sessoms placed second in 20:59.0.
David Bergamasco added a top-10 finish in his first race with the Bucs. The freshman crossed the line in 21:25.9 to cross the line ninth in the field.
Andrew Akright rounded out the Bucs' team top five with a 15th place result. The sophomore crossed the line in 21:42.2.
Benjamin Eddy narrowly missed out on joining the duo in the top 20 with a time of 22:08.4 to place 21st. Joshua Martin and Keith Terry also took on the field for the Bucs on Saturday. Martin crossed the line in 22:57.1 in 29th, while Terry finished in 23:21.9 in 31st.
CSU continues the 2018 season on September 15 in Rock Hill, S.C. at the Winthrop Invitational. The Bucs will take on the field in a preview on the course slated to host the 2018 NCAA Southeast Regional on November 9.
