Long leads way for CSU at Asheville Cross Country Carnival

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Charleston Southern sophomore Zach Long led the Bucs at Saturday's Asheville Cross Country Carnival. Long ran the 8k course in 27:59.98 to finish 51st in the field of 90 competitors.

CSU assistant coach for distance and jumps Sirena Williams was happy with the strides made by Long and others from week one to week two.

"Today was a really good day for us," Williams said. "Everybody really stepped up and rose to the occasion, especially going against some big programs like Alabama and Marshall. Zach Long made a nice improvement, especially. We had a lot of great performances today and I'm so proud of everyone and their desire to continually get better."

Caleb Edgehill also had a solid showing, crossing the finish line in 30:04.65. Alabama bested the 11-team field with 19 total points, and had the top three individual finishers in the event.

CSU will stay local next Saturday, running in the Will Wilson Citadel Invitational in James Island.
