Akright's Two Titles Highlight Buccaneer Invitational


CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern hosted its second home meet of the season at Bagwell-Settle Track in the Buccaneer Invitational on Friday and Saturday. 

Podium Finishes


The Bucs took home a pair of personal bests in the in the 200m for as Vincent Johnson and Phillip Finsterwalder each set their personal bests.

Frankie Thomas competed in the high jump for the first time in the young outdoor season and won the event by clearing the 2.00m bar.

On Friday, JP Caglione took third place in the hammer throw and Clarence Moss followed by taking third in the discus on Saturday.

A pair of first place finishes by Andrew Akright highlighted the day for CSU's distance crew. Akright won both the 800m and the the 1500m. Adam Huff represented the third title for CSU as he won the 5K. David Bergamasco made his outdoor debut for the Bucs and took third in the 1500m. Ethan Blevins finished third in his steeplechase debut. 

Up Next
The Bucs will travel to Gainesville, Florida, next weekend for the Florida Relays. A few athletes will also make the trip to the Raleigh Relays hosted by NC State.
