The Bucs open the outdoor season following a largely successful indoor season that wrapped up a few weeks ago. JP Caglione (weight throw) and Timothy Davis' (triple jump) individual titles helped the Bucs earn seven Buccaneers to All-Conference recognition at the Big South Indoor championship.
Caglione and Seth Wolfe finished 1-2 in the weight throw with Caglione tying his school-record mark as his fifth throw reached 18.68m to win the event.
Davis was the lone athlete to clear 15 meters in the triple jump with his mark of 15.01 coming on his fourth attempt of the day and established a new personal record for the junior.
Vincent Johnson remains among the conference's elite in the hurdles as the junior was on the podium in the men's 60m hurdle event. Johnson finished second overall in 8.01 to lead the Bucs in sprints.
Ryan Spiecha continues a strong CSU career as the junior thrower finished second overall in the men's shot put event. Spiecha's throw of 15.94m placed him second overall in the field.
Jeryck Wilson paced with the leaders throughout the men's 5000m race, but came up just short on his way to crossing the line in 14:49.08 on his way to finishing third overall in the field.
Bagwell-Settle Track will play host to meets on two consecutive weekends with the Jim Settle Spring Break Invitational and next week's Buccaneer Invitational. The eight-lane track was resurfaced in 2015 by Precision Sports Surfaces. The complex also features two jump pits and space for high jump, pole vault, javelin, and discus/hammer throw. Admission is free all day on Saturday and spectators can sit on either of the stadium bleachers.
