TRACK Preview: CSU hosts Spring Break Invitational to open outdoor season

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern opens up the 2018 outdoor track & field season this weekend at the Bagwell-Settle Track Complex for the CSU Spring Break Invitational. The Bucs will be one of 11 institutions with athletes competing this weekend with events slated to start Friday at noon and run through Saturday afternoon.

The two-day event begins at noon on March 16 with the men's hammer throw event, while track events start at 2 p.m. with the women's 110m hurdle trials. Friday night will feature the distance carnival on the track with the women's 3,000m steeplechase starting off the night at 6 p.m.

Saturday will continue the competition with the men's discus starting off the day at 9 a.m. Track events begin with the women's 4x100m relay at 12:30 p.m. The final scheduled event of the meet is the men's 4x400m relay scheduled to start at 2:55 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.

The meet will be the first of three scheduled events at the Bagwell-Settle Track Complex this spring. CSU will also host the Lowcountry Invitational on April 7, and the CSU Tune-Up on May 2.

CSU finished third in the men's Indoor Track & Field Championships, while the women finished fifth at the conference's premier indoor event. The two teams were picked in those slots in the preseason Big South Outdoor Track & Field poll as announced on Wednesday morning.
