CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern closed out the Pepsi Florida Relays and the VertKlasse Meeting on Saturday afternoon as the Buccaneers competed against a combined 141 institutions and teams over the weekend at the two events.
Frankie Thomas rounded out the CSU group that went to the Pepsi Florida Relays on Saturday. The freshman high jumper cleared a season-high 2.00m in the event to finish 11th overall in the field.
At the VertKlasseMeeting, Vincent Johnson finished on the podium in the men's 110m hurdles. The freshman finished third in the field with a time of 14.53 for the top overall finish for the Bucs on the day.
Shantel Ardley led the Bucs in the women's 200m dash with the freshman crossing the line in 25.48 to finish 19th overall in the field.
Destinie Little led two Bucs in the women's 400m dash event with a time of 1:01.72 to finish 35th overall. Traci Drayton placed 44th overall with a time of 1:03.70.
Drayton was CSU's top finisher in the women's 800m run with a time of 2:29.71 to finish 67th in the deep field. Teammate Caroline Edmondson was 70th overall with a time of 2:30.07, while Areale Frazier placed 75th in the field with a time of 2:30.94.
Anaia Hood led CSU in the women's triple jump with a distance of 10.75m to finish 23rd in the field. Victoria Gibson finished 27th overall with a jump of 10.60m.
Madison McCoy paced CSU in the women's discus throw finishing sixth in the field and third among Big South athletes with a throw of 43.64m. Briana Sims was 18th overall with a throw of 38.56m, while Milan Williams placed 20th with 38.18m. Alexus Foreman rounded out the group in 35th with a throw of 33.22m.
Williams was in the top 10 in the women's hammer throw group A with a distance of 50.60m. Her throw placed her eighth in the field on the final day of the meet. McCoy finished 19th overall with a throw of 39.26, while Foreman was 20th with a throw of 36.21m.
Terik Johnson paced CSU in the men's 400m dash with a time of 53.42 to finish 49th among the competitors. Latristan Grimes finished 75th overall with a time of 1:02.24.
Chris Fludd-Clark led CSU in the men's 800m rush. The sophomore finished 86th in the deep field with a time of 2:15.92.
CSU finished seventh in the men's 4x400m relay on Saturday. The Bucs were second among the Big South teams in the field finishing with a time of 3:23.11.
Timothy Davis led the Bucs in the men's triple jump. The freshman topped out at 13.99m for his longest jump of the day to finish 11th in the event.
Jacob Moore led CSU in the men's discus throw as the senior finished 12th overall with a throw of 44.37m. Clarence Moss finished one spot back with a distance of 44.14m, while Spiecha finished 24th with a distance of 40.46m.
Moore also led the Bucs in the hammer throw with a distance of 48.71m.
The Buccaneers continue the outdoor season next weekend on Saturday, April 8, at the North Florida Invitational held in Jacksonville, Fla.
