Paramore and Thomas take home individual titles on final day of CSU Spring Break Invitational

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Joshua Paramore and Frankie Thomas took home individual titles on the final day of the CSU Spring Break Invitational at the Bagwell-Settle Track as the Bucs closed out their first home event of the 2017 season.

Paramore took home the title of Fastest Man at the CSU Spring Break Invitational with the sophomore topping the field in the men's 100-meter dash. After pacing the collegiate field on Friday with a time of 10.85, Paramore once again ran ahead of the pack to capture the individual title with a time of 10.58 on the Bagwell-Settle Track.

Thomas out-jumped the field in the high jump on Saturday with the freshman clearing 1.95 meters to take the individual title. It was Thomas' second individual title of the 2017 season after taking top honors indoors at the Liberty Elite Invitational back on February 11.

The Bagwell-Settle Track will be home to the 2017 Big South Outdoor Championships held on the campus of Charleston Southern University on May 10-12.

Keith Terry's late surge in the seeded 800m run placed him second in the field on Saturday. Terry closed the gap with a time of 1:57.52 to finish behind Northern Kentucky's Tristan Tapia and finish on the podium. Brandon Damon finished fifth in the event with a time of 1:58.31.

Charleston Southern's A team of Terik Johnson, Keith Terry, Joshua Paramore, and Justin Green, finished sixth overall in the 4 x 400m relay with a time of 3:23.79. The B team, consisting of Sheldon Townsend, Brandon Damon, Timothy Davis, and Vincent Johnson, finished eighth overall with a time of 3:31.47.

Josiah Edwards finished seventh in the high jump for the Bucs with a height of 1.80m

Timothy Davis fell just short of giving the Bucs their third individual champion on the day in the men's triple jump with the Goose Creek native finishing second overall with a long jump of 14.16m. Niegel Simmons, the long jump champion, finished fifth overall with a length of 12.68m.

Ryan Spiecha, Jacob Moore, and Clarence Moss all finished in the top six of the men's shot put event on Saturday afternoon. Spiecha led the way with a long throw of 15.09m to finish third in the event. Moore placed fourth with a throw of 14.58m, while Moss finished sixth overall with a distance of 13.85m.

Moore led the Bucs in the discus event that started the morning off on Saturday with a long throw of 43.04m to finish sixth in the event. Moss was 11th with a distance of 39.03m, while Spiecha placed 12th with a length of 38.69m.

The Buccaneers are projected to split up next week with trips to the Weems Baskin Invitational hosted by South Carolina and the Raleigh Relays hosted by North Carolina State on the schedule for March 24-25.
