Throwers pace Buccaneers on first day of Liberty Elite Invitational

LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Charleston Southern throwers took center stage for the Buccaneers on the first day of the Liberty Elite Invitational with Jacob Moore and Milan Williams pacing CSU at the Liberty Elite Invitational.

Moore recorded a top-three finish in the men's weight throw event with a distance of 16.08m. The senior earned the podium spot on his third attempt of the afternoon. Ryan Spiecha and JP Caglione earned top five results with Spiecha recording a throw of 14.69m to finish fourth, narrowly edging Caglione's best throw of the day of 14.68m.

Williams paced the Bucs in the women's weight throw with the freshman finishing 13th among the field with a long distance of 14.65m. Madison McCoy finished one spot back with a throw of 13.73m, while Alexus Foreman was 17th in the field with a distance of 12.75m.

The Liberty Elite Invitational will resume Saturday at 10 a.m. with the men's long jump, women's long jump and women's pole vault. The heptathlon 60 hurdles will get the day's running events started at 11 a.m.
